The Fisher Parkinson Trust is a charitable company set up in 2006 under the will of the late Mr Cyril Parkinson. Cyril lived in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire with his wife Maisie Parkinson (nee Fisher) and served the community for some 80 years and he pledged that, on his death, he would bequeath a gift to fund a trust for the sole benefit of the villagers of Wimblington, Hook, and Stonea, in the county of Cambridgeshire. Mr Parkinson expressly wished the charity to benefit ex students of Thomas Eaton Primary School in their further education, and the community groups associated with the villages. It was his wish that the income derived from his estate be used to support and enhance the opportunities of individuals and groups living in Wimblington, Hook and Stonea.
He specifically identified St. Peter’s Church, Thomas Eaton School and The Methodist Chapel as institutions he wished to aid. Additionally, any other group which functions in the designated areas is encouraged to apply for support funding. Individuals may also access support if they are intending to go into any form of further education, to help with expenses covering books, course fees, equipment etc. These individuals must have completed at least two years as pupils of Thomas Eaton School.
In discharging their duties, the Trustees will at all times embody the word and the spirit of Mr Cyril Parkinson’s will, and as expressed by Mr Parkinson in meetings with the founding Trustees during his lifetime.
The Trustees can therefore invite students and community groups to make applications for grants to the Trust subject to meeting the application criteria.
The Trust currently has 5 Trustees who meet quarterly to consider all applications.
